Names New Executive Chef

Mark Heimann to Oversee Vinoy Restaurants

ST.PETERSBURG, FLORIDA - (June 22, 2007)  – The Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club is pleased to announce that Executive Sous Chef Mark Heimann has been named as the new Executive Chef for the award winning resort in St. Petersburg, Florida.  

 “We are very proud to announce that Mark Heimann has accepted the new position. For over six years, Chef Heimann worked alongside former Executive Chef John Pivar and together their accomplishments were well noted with rave reviews from guests, club members as well as the media,” commented the Vinoy’s General Manager Russ Bond. “Mark has demonstrated leadership, a positive attitude and creativity which have allowed our team to showcase their talents in pursuit of culinary excellence.”

Mark Heimann has worked at the Vinoy for over ten years and will replace John Pivar, who left the resort after a six year award-winning career to open a business in Tampa.

The new Vinoy Executive Chef graduated from the Kendall Culinary School in Chicago and held several culinary positions throughout the Chicago area before joining the Vinoy in May,1995.  He previously held positions as Restaurant Chef of the award-winning Marchand’s dining room, as well as  Banquet Chef and Executive Sous Chef.  The new Executive Chef also helped author the resort’s first cookbook:  “TASTE THE VINOY – WITHOUT RESERVATIONS” which was launched in New York City at the James Beard House in 2004.

“This promotion is a huge honor for me,” Exec Chef Heimann commented.  “I am thrilled to be acknowledged for my work and the new responsibilities but also look forward to showcasing the newly renovated Marchands.”

The historic and award-winning Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club recently completed a $3.5 million renovation.

“Our Chefs Table is brand new and may be used in a variety of ways from hosting special dinners for up to six guests to wine tasting dinners where the Chef will join the guests between courses to describe each wine and food pairings in detail. We’re also looking forward to showcasing our new private Pompeii Room which can accommodate up to 25 guests.”

The secret to his success? “I believe in consistency in cooking and presentation along with attention to detail and of course using fresh ingredients at all times. Our new menu showcases Mediterranean Floridian flavors and ingredients from citrus to fresh seafood.”
